Department of Music in the Graduate School
The department of music at the graduate school of SNU offers advanced education of he major programs in the bachelor's program at the master's and doctoral levels.
All faculty members in each department are involved in the education process. The available majors include vocal music, composition and conducting, theory and musicology, piano, orchestral instruments, Korean instrumental music and vocal music, as well as Korean music composition, conducting, and Korean musicology.
Each major consists of a structured and specialized curriculum for in-depth training as a professional performer, composer, and musicologist. The majors offer a variety of classes related to performance, composition, academic research, and thesis writing to help students develop the practical skills needed for each major. For performance and conducting majors, the program provides a variety of performance experiences, including a graduation concert, while composition majors can lay the foundation for their careers as composers through presentations of their work.
Students majoring in musicology are encouraged to enhance their research skills as they work on their professional thesis as musicologists. The Music Department at graduate school, led by top faculty in the country, is dedicated to training exceptional performers, composers, conductors, and musicologists at a world-wide level.
