Introduction
The Department of composition studies not only composition theory, technique, but also musicology to become composers, musicologists, and conductors. The Composition Department is divided into composition, theory, and conducting.
Since the Composition Department was established, professors and students have continued to actively write and perform music and have become pioneers in the field of composition in Korea. In 2004, a doctoral program was formed and a higher standard for composition education was set.
In 1981, the theory department was formed. A few years late in 1984, the graduate program was started and in 1989 the College of Humanities doctoral program began a joint course of study with the Composition Department. From these programs, a foundation for studying and educating future musicologists and music critics was created.
